BMS PTSA: Please see our home page for a listing of current board members. If you would like to volunteer, please see our volunteer section. We, as the PTSA Executive Board cordially invite you to become a member of the PTSA here at Barber. If one person can make a difference, imagine what we can do and achieve as a group.

June 18, 2009 Blog Entry

The executive board has met and planned some great events for the 2009/2010 school year. We are very excited as we go forward this year with your children. Barber is a great school where the parents as well as the students have a voice.

July 21, 2009 -We look forward to meeting you at registration July 21st for new students.

Aug. 7, 2009  Meet and Greet for students and parents (1:30pm-3:30pm). Please bring your student for this important event. This allows for less chaos on the first day of school for everyone.

August 10, 2009!!  The first day of school. The students may say they are not ready to go back but don’t let them fool you. They enjoy seeing their friends on a daily basis and most will agree they are glad to be back aside from the homework.

August 13, 2009   Our Family Social welcoming 6th graders. The teachers actually put this event on and parents…let me say they do an outstanding job!!! It was my second glimpse into the school and I was very impressed. I was glad this was the school my daughter was attending. They really show how much they care about each and every child. Come and you will understand. Please visit the PTSA booth when you arrive. We will have membership and spirit wear available at this time.

August 20, 2009  Open House/General PTSA Meeting 7:00pm-8:30pm   There will be a quick PTSA meeting in the auditorium to introduce you to the new board and review of the budget. After that, parents and students will disperse to their classrooms. Instructions will be provided at the meeting. The hallways do become clustered so please keep this in mind when bringing strollers in as they may be hard to maneuver.

August 27, 2009  6th Grade Dance  4:30pm-6:00pm  This event is put on by PTSA. Your ticket is your PTSA membership card. This is a presale only event. PTSA membership is $5.00 which helps to support PTSA events thruout the school year. Permission slip forms will go out the second week of school. Membership cards may be purchased at anytime. The Theme is “The 70′s” so find your parents vintage clothes and come hang out!

August 28, 2009. The 6th grade dance was a blast. Thanks to all the volunteers for helping to set-up, monitor, and tear down. Events like these are not possible without your help.

September 3, 2009  7th and 8th Grade Dance. Same rules apply as mentioned above for 6th grade dance. Your PTSA membership card is your ticket in the door. This is a presale only event. No memberships sold at the door for this event. The Themes this year is “The 70′s” so find your parents vintage clothes and come hang out!

Sept 4, 2009   These guys and girls really got their groove going on the dance floor. We, the PTSA learned that 7th and 8th graders rarely eat at a dance but do drink a lot from all their efforts displayed on the dance floor. Again, thank you volunteers for all your help. We certainly could not have done it without you!!

September 15, 16,17   Abstinence Program   We will host one program at Barber, and one at The Roberts School. The time will be 7:00pm-8:00pm Details to come…

Please check back for upcoming events…
