From Your School Social Worker…
Greetings!
It is my hope that your school year is off to a great start. I look forward to my first year as the Social Worker for Barber Middle School. I am very excited about the opportunity to support your efforts in providing the best possible learning environment for your students.
My objectives are to:
· Assist students and parents in alleviating barriers that interfere with academic success.
· Provide support and assistance to parents and students as needed.
· Encourage and support academic success wile enforcing the Georgia Compulsory School Attendance Law.
Please note that students need to be in their seats by the time the bell rings at 9:15 a.m. and ready for instruction. Any student entering the classroom after that time is tardy.
For your information: Checking in (no later) from morning appointments by 12:45 and out (no earlier) for afternoon appointment after 12:45 will allow your student to be counted as present for the entire day.
If you take your student to a medical appointment, please ask for an excuse to send in with your student upon his return. It will be helpful if he/she should receive a referral for attendance during the school year.
