Thank you for visiting our website and staying informed. Knowing is half the battle! : )
As always, volunteers are necessary for us to carry out our many programs and events. We hope that you will consider stepping up in whatever way you are able. Your support and participation have a great impact!
*We currently need volunteers to help with the 8th Grade Winter Ball. We need people on Jan 19th from 4 – 8pm. We also need volunteers for set up, chaperoning, and clean up on Sat, Jan 21st from 5 – 9pm.
*We also need parents to serve on the PTSA nominating committee to help vet and select the slate of candidates for next year's board. This commitment requires some independent organization and reading, and just a few meetings over the next two months.
*If you are interesting in serving on next year's board, please let us know so we can forward your name and contact info to the nominating committee.
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, or have questions please contact us by email at bmsptsa@gmail.com You may also leave us a note through the office staff by calling the school.
Parents and students, please be prepared for the state required Writing Assessment on Wednesday, Jan 18th from 9:30 – 11:30am. 8th Graders will be taking the Middle Grades Writing Assessment, 6th and 7th Graders will take a local Writing Assessment at this same time. Students should arrive to school on time and come prepared with sharpened number two pencils and blue or black ink pens.
During the month of January, all three grade levels will take the Georgia Student Health Survey. If you do not wish for your child to take the survey, then you will need to fill out a request form and return it to your child's science teacher by January 18th. If you would like to examine the survey, please come by the school between January 12th and January 17th. The form to opt out of the survey can be found on the school website: www.cobbk12.org/barber
Barber has just entered into a new partnership with RazerDeals, based in Marietta. It is a progam very similar to groupon, but when you sign up through our custom web portal they donate 25% of the price of every deal you purchase back to Barber PTSA! If we get 500 people signed up through our portal they will donate a bonus $200 to the school. Please sign up to receive their daily deals email and share our link with your family and friends. It only takes seconds to put in your email to subscribe, then you will receive a follow up email from Razer Deals to finish creating your account… this only takes a minute or two. You must do both steps for us to receive credit.
Our custom RazerDeals portal is located here: http://www.razerglobal.com/ms/barber
We still have a small amount of Spirit Wear available for sale. If you receive the Barber Middle School E-Blasts, then you recently received a list of the stock still available. Please use this link for the Spirit Wear Flier to send in your purchase information.
Please sign up for our e-newsletter if you have not already. It is the quickest and easiest way for us to keep you informed. It is not always cost effective or efficient to send printed notices to our close to 980 students!
***The KidStuff Savings Books fundraiser has ended. If you have not yet returned or paid for the book you received, please do so immediately. Our coordinator would very much like to close out this fundraiser and move on to other things. Individual notices about books still unpaid/unreturned will come home on Monday.
Sadly this fundraiser fell well short of our expectations and goals for the year, but we would like to thank those families that participated and gave us their support. Also a big thank you to those teachers who did their part to distribute and track the books. We couldn't have done it without you!
Our top seller and those who sold five books or more will be receiving notifications about their prizes over this weekend (Dec 10th). Thank you for taking the initiative to sell more than your one book!

Our Coin War for Heroes was a huge success! The 6th Grade won the award day with a final total of $94.38 in their bottle.
The students at Barber should be very proud of themselves. The final total raised was $222.56. All proceeds will benefit local police, fire, and rescue heroes to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
